Rondeau Provincial Park Waterfowl Hunt

unique opportunity to harvest waterfowl species IN Rondeau Bay

Experience Waterfowl Hunting at Rondeau Provincial Park

Rondeau Bay Waterfowlers Association (RBWA) is a not-for-profit organization working in co-operation with Ontario Parks, the OFAH and the Ministry of Natural Resources.

There are two zones in which hunting is permitted in Rondeau Bay: A-Zone (within Rondeau Provincial Park), and B-Zone. Hunters wishing to hunt in Rondeau Bay require either an A-Zone or B-Zone Hunting permit. (The map below shows the boundaries of the two zones)

A-Zone has approximately 30 blinds and shooting points in Rondeau Provincial Park, available to the public. These blinds can be rented daily through a lottery system performed two weeks prior to the opening hunting day. Decoys, canoes, and paddles are available at certain blinds as shown in the map below. An A-Zone Daily Hunting Permit is required, these will be issued to each person who receives a blind in the lottery. The lottery system will provide a morning and afternoon hunt, morning hunters shall be back to the Waterfowl Management Unit office by 2:00 pm the day of the hunt. Afternoon hunters may not depart from the Waterfowl Management Unit office for their blinds before 1:30 pm.

B-Zone provides additional hunting opportunities for hunters wishing to use their own blinds or boats. A B-Zone Seasonal Hunting Permit is required. A lottery system is used for B-Zone Blind Permits. All blinds must be removed no later than March 15th the following year. Hunting is not permitted within 300 meters from shore or a natural rush bed or waterline that forms a boundary of private property.

History Of The Hunt

A provision of the agreement with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry requires hunters participate in a mandatory reporting program.

Each person must return to the on-site Waterfowl Technician after completing their hunt and present their harvest from that morning for important data collection (the species, sex, age, and number of waterfowl harvested, etc.).

The information from these reports and standard migratory bird band reporting from Darlington Provincial Park waterfowl hunters, contributes to long-term monitoring and assessment programs throughout North America.
